The Windy City is renowned for many Chicago attractions. From its skyscrapers, modern art sculptures, and sweeping public parks, to its famous waterways – particularly, the majestic Chicago River, which winds through the urban landscape of its namesake city. It is no wonder that Smart Destinations visitors enjoy exploring the beauties of Chicago by water with popular attraction partner Shoreline Sightseeing. Starting this July, Shoreline has something extra special to offer their visitors – a brand new riverboat called “The Riverview.”
Christened on July 12th, the Riverview will serve among the ships that run the perennial favorite Architecture River Cruise. With 280 seats, 360-degree visibility, open-air seating, and a special means of locomotion, the Riverview is a whole new cruise experience. As opposed to conventional propulsion technology, the Riverview is pushed by a tugboat, which is both a homage to early days of Chicago water traffic and an eco-friendly option due to its lower carbon footprint. It’s the only ship in Chicago powered by such technology and one of a select few in the Great Lakes region – a rare opportunity for Smart Destinations customers to see a tugboat in action.
“The new Shoreline Riverview represents the very best of Chicago: an innovative vessel, an excellent visitor experience and one of the greatest views of this amazing city,” said Pam Morin, Regional Director of Chicago with Smart Destinations.
Because of its increasing popularity as an exciting vacation destination, Smart Destinations customers are visiting Chicago more than ever before. For travelers interested in Shoreline’s fascinating and enlightening water excursions, the Architecture River Cruise is available with the Go Chicago Card and the Go Select Chicago Pass, in addition to several of the most popular of Go Select Chicago packages. Shoreline also offers another favorite Chicago attraction, the Skyline Lake Tour, which is available with all Smart Destinations Chicago products as well.
